OUR STORY
Indian Rock Cabin has its roots in two places: the pine-draped shores of Priest Lake, Idaho, and the warm sands of Maui, Hawai’i. In 2009, Nancy and Ray Rogers visited Priest Lake for the first time. They had planned for a short stay to visit Nancy’s sister, whose cabin is just down the road, but the lake’s beauty and serenity quickly cast its spell. What began as a two-day visit stretched into a week, and Priest Lake has been in their hearts ever since.
After years of dreaming, the Rogers family found their perfect cabin in 2014. For decades, it had been the home of the Triplett family, whose stories are woven into the history of the lake. Dunbar Triplett used his shortwave radio to invite neighbors for cocktails, while Esther baked her famous cookies and raked pine needles endlessly. Dunbar’s tikis, carved by hand, became a signature of the property. For Esther, two places held her heart: Priest Lake and Maui—a connection that felt fated for the Rogers family, who had spent over 20 years living in Hawai’i.
Honoring this legacy became a guiding principle as Nancy and Ray began restoring the cabin. Over two summers, with the help of family and friends, Ray led the careful disassembly of the original structure, salvaging nearly every board, cabinet, and floor. The reclaimed wood became the soul of the rebuilt cabin, a 2,500-square-foot retreat with a detached three-car garage and a new chapter of stories to tell.
Today, Indian Rock Cabin stands as a tribute to the generations of families who have loved Priest Lake and gathered here to create traditions. Every reclaimed board, every knot in the cedar, and every step onto the sandy shores carries the spirit of those who came before—and the promise of the memories yet to be made.
